“Celestia: A World of Gifted Exploration”

Both “Flipside” and “Celestia” are interactive websites I’ve created using the free Wix HTML (blank template) platform. With the exception of background images and website logos, the site is created using features provided to all account users by the Wix developers.

“Flipside” has been used by my advanced 6th grade Language Arts classes and will be adapted to be used by future Language Arts classes. “Celestia” has been used by my Middle School Gifted elective classes but could support any other Middle School gifted program. Both sites have been created as a means for students to access resources that support the course curriculum as well as providing “fun” gamification elements to my “gamified” classes.  In addition, you’ll also notice references to other game elements such as XP (Experience Points), badges, tokens and Leader Boards in my posts. At least half, if not more, of the gamification design elements are located in my classroom. Most of the content on the game sites however, are generic and can be used by anyone who might find them useful. Students can simply take a screenshot (instructions are located in both sites’ Training areas) and submit the image to their teacher electronically or printed and submitted by hand to validate their task completion.

Each site has Contact,  Information, and “Trailer” links located on their Home screen. The “trailers” provide the back story for each site. The Contact and Information pages should be self-explanatory.

(NOTE: The music and sounds on each page of the sites can be adjusted using an embedded MP3 player located on the page.)

Love ur sites. Have u tried to create a live leaderboard? I have created an exel spreadsheet to calculate xp points, prizes etc but want to put it on my wix site. How did u do it?

  2. How do you make the objects in your background images move?

  3. How did you add the music players on the wix websites? I had much trouble trying to do so successfully.
